Keto Salisbury Steak with Keto Gravy

This week we bring you a delicious Keto Homestyle Comfort food classic dish.  We present a Keto Salisbury Steak with Keto Mushroom Gravy, this is absolutely delicious – who say’s that eating Keto or Low Carb has to be boring.

The History of Salisbury Steak

The term “Salisbury Steak” has been in use in the United States since 1897. The dish was named after American physician James Salisbury who practiced medicine during the Civil War.  He was one of the first physicians that taught that diet was the main determinant to health.  He was one of the first to promote a low carb diet for weight loss.

INGREDIENTS

PATTIES:

2 lbs. ground chuck(ground beef)
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup pork rinds (ground)
1 egg
2 TB heavy cream
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 TB Worcestershire sauce
Seasoning to taste (garlic salt and pepper)

SAUTÉ AND ADD IN:

1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms
1/4 chopped onion

GRAVY:

2 cups beef broth
3 TB Worcestershire sauce
Garlic powder
2 tsp. Tomato paste
1 cup water

ADD IN AFTER COOKING:

4 TB heavy cream
1 tsp. Xanthum gum

HOW TO PREPARE:

  • Add the patties ingredients together to form 6 large patties. Brown in a large skillet….transfer to a 9×13 baking dish.
  • In the same skillet, using drippings, sauté the mushrooms and onions until browned. Sprinkle mushrooms and onion over patties.
  • In a saucepan combine gravy ingredients and bring to a simmer until bubbling and well combined. Pour over meat. Bake at 300° for 1 hour.
  • Remove from oven, take out patties and strain gravy to a separate saucepan.
  • Bring to a simmer….add in heavy cream.
  • Sprinkle in xanthum gum evenly over gravy whisking constantly until gravy thickens.
  • Pour over Salisbury steak.
  • Serve over faux mashed potatoes.
