Keto Sound Byte: Debunking Keto Myths Part 2

Facts or Myths
  • Myth 1: Keto is a high-fat, high-protein diet. The ketogenic diet is a moderate-protein diet, with protein making up about 20-25% of your intake, fat around 75%, and carbs around 5%.
  • Myth 2: You can eat any kind of fat on the ketogenic diet. While keto is a high-fat diet, not all fats are beneficial. We talk about  avoiding trans fats and highly processed oils  and recommend cold-pressed oils from natural sources.
  • Myth 3: You can’t exercise on Keto. This is false; exercise is beneficial on keto and can help you achieve better results.
  • Myth 4: You’ll lose muscle mass on Keto. This is also not true. The ketogenic diet can lead to muscle gain and fat loss. Unhealthy and unused excess proteins are used up in autophagy.
  • Myth 5: There is no alcohol on Keto. Alcohol is generally allowed on the ketogenic diet, though it can temporarily pause ketosis. CJ and I do not drink. But lots of individuals do. Beer and sweet wines are not recommended. Hard, clear liquors are preferred. Also be aware of the mixers you choose!
