Keto Seafood Cakes | Salmon Cakes and Crab Cakes
This weeks recipe is Keto Seafood Cakes, you actually get two recipes for the price of one (Free), we make both Salmon cakes and Crab Cakes. Sarah and I both have great memories of Salmon cakes from our childhoods, her is Idaho and me growing up in Washington D.C., worlds apart. Both of these recipes are easy to make and delicious (our kids even like them). Growing up on the East Coast I’d never had crab cakes until I became an adult and left the Washington, Maryland area. The chesapeake bay crab cakes were famous even when I was a child. We’ve made our crab cakes a bit more keto friendly.
One of my very favorite dishes from childhood, were the salmon patties my grandma would serve myself and my younger sisters. Salmon patties, or salmon cakes, are wonderfully easy to make, and require little effort, making them perfect for busy weeknights. The whole process takes about 20 minutes from start to finish. You make salmon patties with just a base of cooked salmon, breadcrumbs (in this case keto) chopped onion, and egg to bind it all into patties, and then these salmon cakes are quickly fried. Making them tender and flaky on the inside, golden and crispy on the outside
In this easy salmon patties recipe, I have dressed up my patties with a few chopped veggies and fresh herbs, which really enhance the seafood flavor. You could also add parsley, Old Bay seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, or cilantro. Feel free to improvise and make these salmon cakes your own! I have also utilized cost saving, and easy accessible canned salmon..
Is salmon out of a can good for you?
Fortunately, the canning process doesn’t take away the nutrients in fish, so you’ll get protein, heart healthy omega-3 fats and other nutrients from both fresh and canned sources of salmon. While there can be a slight difference in taste the ease of using canned fish in recipes like these salmon cakes makes it a great option.

Next we have crab cakes….
While it would be best to be by the ocean to pick up fresh crab meat….the canned variety is quite flavorful also.
Crab cakes are a food loved by most people, and a comfort food for some. They are usually served as an appetizer. The traditional boardwalk Maryland crab cakes are deep-fried and breaded. If you are on a low carb diet, it’s still possible to enjoy crab cakes using lower carb binders. Crab cakes are great by themselves, but usually served with a dip. Your options include Dijon crab cake sauce, remoulade sauce, lemon dill sauce, horseradish mayo, and classic and modernized cocktail and tartar sauces. Just be sure to check nutrition labels for carb counts, or make your own.
We hope these seafood cakes have given you some keto options to incorporate the delicious, and nutrient dense treasures of the sea into your repertoire.

I enjoyed the Salmon Cakes very much. As you are always hunting new ways to recipe…I found one I think you might enjoy playing with again. This is a variation of Lasagna done Keto and it uses Turkey lunch meat. (Neat huh?) I did this tonight and one other night a few weeks ago…and it turned out amazingly. Instead of noodles or zoodles…you use strips about the size of lasagna noodles of turkey meat. (I used Turkey lunch meat). It turned out wonderfully. I made mine traditionally with egg in ricotta cheese, hamburger meat, mozzarella, seasoned with Italian herbs, Hunts Spaghetti Sauce, in an oven at 350F for 30 min. 9×13 casserole dish. My guys (and girl now that our daughter is home) loved it and asked for more. While you wouldn’t want to make this a lot since its high caloric ally its a terrific dish to serve for special occasions. Thought you might enjoy it, especially w Christmas on the horizon. Much love. Lyn
Thanks LynAnne sounds delicious. I will pass to Sarah.
