Keto American Flag Cake
If you are looking for further evidence that we are never ever too old to have fun with our food, this would be it.
soft yellow cake topped with cream cheese frosting and fresh berries; this flag cake is the perfect patriotic dessert for a crowd.
I was watching the Food Network the other night with CJ and came across Ina Garten from the barefoot Contessa making this beautiful cake and I knew I wanted to make it in the ketogenic version for the Fourth of July!
With its no-fuss sheet cake style, this Flag Cake is ideal for transporting to parties and slicing to serve a crowd.
No one will suspect this Flag Cake had been lightened up, and I guarantee your party won’t either!
The ingredients for this flag cake are pretty straightforward.
My only advice is to get the prettiest, firmest berries you can find. It will make decorating the cake much easier.
A few tips for your Red, White and Blue:
I chose strawberries and blueberries in this sheet cake recipe to mimic the American Flag colors because this patriotic recipe is the perfect dessert for Memorial Day, Fourth of July or any other day you want to celebrate the red, white and blue American Flag.
Blueberries: The blueberries in this recipe represent the stars. They represent them not in the actual blueberries themselves but in the white spaces between the blueberries.
Strawberries: The strawberries do double duty creating the red stripes and the white stripes on the cake. You can either make the stripes by cutting your strawberries simply in half or you can thinly slice them and lay them on their side.
Keep the strawberries simply sliced in half because they release less liquid this way which will keep the top of the cake looking beautiful longer. If you slice the strawberries thinly, be sure to dry the slices very, very well with a paper towel and serve the cake immediately after decorating. You could also use raspberries here.

Wow! This recipe is truly an act of love and selflessness. Life is sometimes filled with challenges, making this video was certainly a challenge. We’ve been dealing with a lot of stress and family issues (outside of our family), and it has placed a lot of pressure on Sarah in particular, but my girl is a trooper and makes no excuse when it comes to doing our weekly video, I appreciate all she does. Keto American Flag Cake
- 1/4 sheet baking tray
- 2 cups almond flour
- 1 cup natural sweetener
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- 8 TB butter melted
- 4 eggs room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Frosting & Berries
- 6 oz cream cheese very softened
- 2 TB butter very softened
- 1/3 cup powdered natural sweetener
- 1 TB heavy cream optional for thinning
- 1 lb strawberries sliced
- 1 pint blueberries
- Add all dry ingredients to a medium sized bowl. Add eggs one at a time, and vanilla while combining with a hand mixer on low.
- Slowly add the melted butter while continuing to run your mixer on low speed until all ingredients are just combined.
- Spread into a 1/4 inch sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Frosting & berries
- Add all the frosting ingredients together in a small bowl. whip with hand mixer until light and fluffy.
- Spread in an even thick layer over cooled cake.
- Fill the corner with a nice layer of blueberries. I used 30 to make my "star" area.
- Line the strawberry slices in rows to form the "stripes" Refrigerate until ready to serve.
