It’s a copycat recipe inspired by Outback Steakhouse, and it’s beyond delicious. But I’ve streamlined it for the low carb lifestyle!

Although Outback Steakhouse has a variety of dishes, the Outback Steakhouse Alice Springs Chicken is one of their most popular menu items, and it’s understandable why!

Alice Springs Chicken combines sweet and savory flavors and melty cheese and a variety of textures to create a delicious and visually appealing dish that is perfect for upgrading any weeknight meal. The tender chicken topped with honey mustard sauce, mushrooms, crispy bacon, and melted cheese is irresistible!

  • 2 lb chicken thighs seared on both sides
  • 8 oz. bacon 3/4 cup of crumbles
  • 1 cup mushrooms any kind
  • 1 tbsp Seasoning to taste We used Trader Joe's 21 Seasoning Salute and Trader Joe's Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup Sugar-free honey alternative (Pyure Harmless Hunny) Optional Ingredient
  • 8 oz. Colby Jack cheese

Instructions

  • DIRECTIONS:
  • Preheat oven to 350°
  • Sear chicken on both sides in an oven-proof skillet.
  • In a large skillet re-warm bacon crumbles. Add 1 cup of mushrooms and sauté until tender. Remove bacon and mushrooms and set aside.
  • Combine together mayonnaise, mustard and alternative sweetener to form a sauce. Pour sauce over chicken thighs in the pan. Top with reserved mushrooms and bacon. Sprinkle cheese even over the dish.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Broiling for 1 to 2 minutes if desired. Let dish sit for 10 to 15 minutes before serving. Serves 8
