A cast-iron skillet replaces the need for a pizza stone thanks to its ability to get hot fast and stay hot and ensures your dough bakes up into a bubbly brown crust. This also makes it a one dish meal… You can cook your bacon and anything else you might need all in the same skillet.

If you were a lover of pizza, and could eat it three meals a day… Then this deep dish style breakfast pizza is the ticket to incorporate the “breakfast version“ until your meal plan. With fluffy eggs cheese and your favorite toppings baked into a thick and chewy deep dish fat head crust.

Tips for your breakfast pizza:

Are used my beloved cast-iron skillet… But you could also use a regular baking dish, or a lipped cookie sheet instead if you do not have a skillet. You simply press all the fat head ingredients to make one uniform crust.

This breakfast pizza can be customized with any toppings you like! Some other combinations that would be good to try would be eggs chorizo tomatoes and pepper jack cheese… Eggs bacon spinach mushrooms and goat cheese… Chopped chicken spinach, tomatoes and Alfredo sauce. The options really are endless!

Sauce? We really enjoyed this with sauce….a lot of people sauce their pizza. Marinara, ranch….whatever you enjoy. Alternately, hot sauce, tabasco, or ketchup would also be scrumptious!

This last tip isn’t really a cooking tip, and more of a parenting tip. LOL calling this a pizza makes my kids way more eager to eat veggies with their breakfast which definitely gets me mom brownie points, right?

Why Cast Iron?

Part of that versatility comes from the material. And part comes from the treatment. Cast-iron is a metal that distributes heat very effectively.

That means that when the pan gets hot, it spreads the heat evenly throughout the metal, giving insurance for a more even cooking experience and fewer hotspots.

It’s also extremely talented when it comes to retaining heat. Once a cast-iron skillet gets hot, it stays hot even when you take it away from the flame… This means that it can cook with residual heat or keep food warm before serving.

It can also take a serious beating and continue to perform!
