Keto Taco Pizza
Taco pizza – yup, it’s possible! Two of my favorite foods really can be combined into one incredibly delicious dinner.
I’m always on the lookout for easy meals my family will enjoy, and this definitely falls into that category.
I love recipes that work for many things, don’t you? It saves a lot of time and effort.
In Idaho, where I grew up, pretty much any restaurant that serves pizza will have taco pizza on the menu. Sunday’s were always pizza night in our household and Happy Joe’s was always my favorite. They definitely knew how to do pizza, (you could watch them make it too!) but the best part about Happy Joe’s was that after you ate the most delicious taco pizza, you could go up to their ice cream bar, and pick you favorite. I can still remember the smell. Pizza and ice cream go hand in hand in my book. Awwww memories.
You’re going to start by making the pizza dough, (Don’t let “homemade fat head dough” intimidate you, it’s easy), we’ve made it in many different styles on our channel and it really is so versatile!
Taco pizza is sometimes made with a refried bean “sauce”… And while I enjoy beans occasionally… They are not a ketogenic food. I decided to create a taco sauce using just a small amount of enchilada sauce and a small amount of taco sauce. It worked perfectly.
Feel free to adjust or add any toppings your family prefers with tacos. That’s another great thing about this easy meal – you can easily tweak it.
A few pizza tips:
A really recommend parchment paper when working with fathead dough. I have found parchment paper at the dollar store if cost is an issue.
Remember you can always wet your work surface with a bit of water, to make rolling out easier. You can also dampen your fingertips with water to help spread out your dough and shape it into your desired circumference.
While it is optional, I do really enjoy seasoning my dough before baking. I am an aggressive seasoner, and I really feel that it adds to the overall taste and texture of the finished pizza.
In this case I used ground cumin, and red sazon, which is a type of Spanish seasoning that is reddish in color and typically includes cilantro cumin ground annatto and oregano. Which added a beautiful color and flavor to my dough.
CJ’S FOLLOW-UP TASTE TEST:
This Taco Pizza was excellent and full of flavor. I never knew that such a thing existed until Sarah shared stories of getting it from her childhood. I was pleasantly surprised and you will be as well. This recipe is also very versatile and you can truly make it your own, with flavor combinations that you enjoy.
