These roasted nuts are completely irresistible. They’re a little sweet, a little spicy, and nice and toasty. These nuts will be a hit any time of year or a wonderful snack in between.
Roasted nuts are universally popular, and a very healthy snack too. They are generally easy to find and have around for you and your family to enjoy.
This recipe is very versatile also. You can easily change up the nuts and seasonings to suit your preferences.
Toasting nuts in butter is awesome:
Wait. More fat? More delicious nuttiness? Yep, count me in!
Butter is just an unselfish giver in the flavor department… Nuts are already nutty, but when they’re tossed in butter and browned to a deeper level of toasting, their true flavors are unlocked.
I have been butter roasting my nuts for several years now. And it absolutely makes a difference.
Flavor Variations on Roasted Party Nuts:
Nuts: you can choose any variety of nuts… Sam’s Club, or Costco, is a good place to buy nuts in bulk. I chose almonds and pecans because they are my favorite and some of the lowest in carbs you could use a mixed nut blend but the macros would be calculated differently.
For herbed mixed nuts: stir in 2 tablespoons finely snipped or chopped fresh herbs. Preparing herbs is a little tedious and takes a few minutes, but it is 100 percent worth the effort.
For pumpkin spice or cinnamon mixed nuts, add between 1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice blend or cinnamon, to taste.
For sweeter party nuts (these are lightly sweet as written), double the sugar-free sweetener.
For extra-spicy or not-at-all-spicy nuts: adjust the cayenne pepper. You can even double the cayenne, or adjust to taste—sample the nuts tossed in the sweetener /spice mixture and stir in more, if you’d like. Or for not-spicy nuts, simply omit the cayenne altogether.
CJ’s FOLLOW-UP TASTE TEST:
So this recipe caused a bit of controversy here at CjsKetoKitchen! Why? Well initially I did not taste any sweetness, when I did my taste test. People always want to know if I ever say anything negative about a dish, the answer is it is very infrequent. But I just couldn’t taste the sweetness, however we let our daughter Izzy try them and she raved about the great combination of salty, and SWEET! So we agreed to disagree on this recipe for the time being. However, I admitted that maybe my sweet tooth is such that it just didn’t register. The next day rolls around and it’s 5:30 AM, I decide to try these nuts again, now that are now completely cooled, and have set over night. To my amazement I could actually taste the sweetness. I believe that an important step with these nuts is to let them completely cool. I tell you this story because we are all different, and you may need to experiment to get the perfect levels for you and your family. WARNING! Now that I actually can taste the sweetness and saltiness, these little nuts are highly addictive and you need to be careful and manage your snacking. Keto sweet & salty party nuts
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
- In a medium bowl combine egg white and water and whisk until foamy(I used my mini food processor) add nuts; toss to coat. Allow to stand for 5 minutes.
- In a large plastic bag combine sweetener & spices. Add nuts; shake well to coat. Spread nuts evenly on a parchment lined baking tray.
- Bake for 20 minutes…10 minutes, stir and 10 minutes more. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
- Serving size ¼ cup
- Servings: 16
